Did
Yahshua Pre-exist?
There
are many opinions as to the pre-existence of the Son of
Yahweh. The only way to find the truth is to read the
scriptures and see what they say concerning his pre-existence.
John
1:1-14
In the beginning was the
Word, and the Word was with Yahweh, and
the Word was Yahweh. (2) He was in the beginning
with Yahweh. (3) All things were made through him,
and without him was not any thing made that was made.
(4) In him was life, and the life was the light of
men. (5) The light shines in the darkness, and the
darkness has not overcome it. (6) There was a man
sent from God, whose name was John. (7) He came as
a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe
through him. (8) He was not the light, but came to
bear witness about the light. (9) The true light,
which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
(10) He was in the world, and the world was made through him,
yet the world did not know him. (11) He came to his
own, and his own people did not receive him. (12)
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the
right to become children of Yahweh, (13) who were
born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man,
but of Yahweh. (14) And the Word became flesh and
tabernacled among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only
Son from the Father, full of favor and truth.
These
verses show us that Yahshua was
1)
with Yahweh at the beginning verse 1
2)
made all things verse 3
3)
was sent to live here among humans in human form verse 14
Hebrews
1:1-2
Long ago, at many times
and in many ways, Yahweh spoke to our fathers
by the prophets, (2) but in these last days he has
spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things,
through whom also he created the world.
Colossians
1:16-17
For by him all things
were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all
things were created through him and for him. (17)
And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Scripture
clearly tells us that Yahweh’s son created the
world.
Genesis 1:26
Then Elohim said, "Let
Us make man in our image, after Our likeness.
And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds
of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over
every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
Two
beings are here speaking: Let us make man after our image
… If this was a singular being the
Hebrew language could have easily made that clear. It
didn’t because the Father and the Son were both there when
man was created.
Genesis
14:13-20
Then one who had escaped
came and told Abram the Hebrew, who was living
by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner. These
were allies of Abram. (14) When Abram heard that
his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born
in his house, 318 of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.
(15) And he divided his forces against them by night, he and
his servants, and defeated them and pursued them to Hobah, north of
Damascus. (16) Then he brought back all the
possessions, and also brought back his kinsman Lot with his
possessions, and the women and the people. (17)
After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were
with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of
Shaveh (that is, the King's Valley). (18) And
Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of
El Most High.) (19) And he blessed him and said,
"Blessed be Abram by El Most High, Possessor of heaven and
earth; (20) and blessed be El Most High, who has
delivered your enemies into your hand!" And Abram gave him a tenth of
everything.
Hebrews
7:1-6
For this Melchizedek,
king of Salem, priest of the Most High El, met
Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed
him, (2) and to him Abraham apportioned a tenth
part of everything. He is first, by translation of his name, king of
righteousness, and then he is also king of Salem, that is, king of
peace. (3) He is without father or mother or
genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made
like the Son of Yahweh he continues a priest forever.
(4) See how great this man was to whom Abraham the patriarch
gave a tenth of the spoils! (5) And those
descendants of Levi who receive the priestly office have a commandment
in the law to take tithes from the people, that is, from their
brothers, though these also are descended from Abraham.
(6) But this man who does not have his descent from them
received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.
Here
we read two accounts of Abraham’s encounter with
Melchizedek. There’s an interesting thing
about Melchizedek. He has no beginning and no end of
life. This is obviously not Yahweh the Father so who can it
be? Also scripture says that he was made like the son of
Yahweh. Further study into the words here (Strong’s
871 aphomoioo¯) indicates that Melchizedek was a model or copy
of the son of Yahweh. Yahshua in his previous existence came
to earth as a model of what he would become once again in the future.
Hebrews
6:20
where Yahshua has gone
as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a
high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
If
Melchizedek was someone else who cannot die, then why would Yahshua
need to take over his priesthood? It has to be the same
being.
Genesis
17:1-6
And when Abram was
ninety nine years old, Yahweh appeared to Abram and
said to him, I am El Shaddai! Walk before me and be perfect;
(2) and I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will
multiply you very much. (3) And Abram fell on his
face. And Elohim spoke with him, saying, (4) As for
Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many
nations. (5) And your name no longer shall be
called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham. For I have made you a
father of many nations. (6) And I will make you
very fruitful, exceedingly. And I will give you for nations. And kings
shall come out of you.
Genesis
18:1-8
And Yahweh appeared to
him by the oaks of Mamre. And he was sitting at
the door of the tent in the heat of the day. (2)
And he lifted up his eyes and looked; and, behold, three men were
standing by him. And he saw, and he ran to meet them from the entrance
of the tent. And he bowed to the ground. (3) And he
said, My Master, if now I have found favor in Your sight, I beg You, do
not leave from near Your servant. (4) Please allow
a little water to be taken and You wash Your feet, and rest under the
tree. (5) And I will bring a bite of bread and will
sustain Your heart. Then You may pass on, for this is why You have
passed over to Your servant. And they said, Do so, as you have
said. (6) And Abraham ran into the tent to Sarah
and said, Hurry, prepare three measures of fine meal, knead it and make
cakes. (7) And Abraham ran to the herd and brought
a son of the herd, tender and good, and gave it to a youth. And he
hurried to prepare it. (8) And he took curds and
milk and the son of the herd which he had prepared, and he set before
them. And he stood by them under the tree. And they ate.
Two
times Abraham has a personal encounter with Yahweh. Was
it the Father? Not if you believe the scripture.
John
1:18
No one has seen Yahweh
(the Father) at any time; the only begotten Son,
who is in the bosom of the Father, He declares Him.
The
Son declares the Father. No one has seen Him.
If Abraham was speaking with Yahweh it had to be the Son who is also
called Yahweh.
Genesis
19:24
And Yahweh rained
brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from Yahweh
out of the heavens.
Here
in Genesis it shows two Yahweh’s working together in the
destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Joshua
5:13-15
When Joshua was by
Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and
behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand.
And Joshua went to him and said to him, "Are you for us, or for our
adversaries?" (14) And he said, "No; but I am the
commander of the army of Yahweh. Now I have come." And Joshua fell on
his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, "What does my
master say to his servant?" (15) And the commander
of Yahweh's army said to Joshua, "Take off your sandals from your feet,
for the place where you are standing is holy." And Joshua did so.
Here
Joshua runs into
a being who allows Joshua to worship
him. Was it an angel?
Revelation
19:9-10
And he says to me,
Write: Blessed are the ones having been called to
the supper of the marriage of the Lamb. And he says to me, These Words
of Yahweh are true. (10) And I fell before his feet
to worship him, but he said to me, Behold! Stop! I am a fellow-slave of
yours, and of your brothers, having the testimony of Yahshua. Worship
Yahweh. For the testimony of Yahshua is the spirit of prophecy.
Angels
(messengers) of Yahweh do not allow humans to worship
them. This had to be someone else, someone who could be
worshipped.
Deuteronomy
6:13-15
It is Yahweh your Elohim
you shall fear. Him you shall serve and by his
name you shall swear. (14) You shall not go after
other elohim, elohim of the peoples who are around you,
(15) for Yahweh your Elohim in your midst is a jealous El,
lest the anger of Yahweh your Elohim be kindled against you, and he
destroy you from off the face of the earth.
Only
Yahweh is to be worshipped. Joshua encountered Yahweh
(the son) that day it could not have been anyone else.
Proverbs
30:4
Who has ascended to
heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in
his fists? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has
established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is
his son's name? Surely you know!
In
this scripture which was written centuries before the Messiah walked
on this earth we find out that both he and his father exist and that
both have names.
Luke
10:18
And he said to them, "I
saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
Here
Yahshua himself is speaking of an event he witnessed which
occurred before the creation of Genesis chapter one.
John
3:13
No one has ascended into
heaven except the One who descended from
heaven--the Son of Man.
Here
Yahshua tells us he came down from heaven.
John
8:58
Yahshua said to them,
Truly, truly, I say to you, Before Abraham came
to be, I existed!
In
this verse and other similar verses Yahshua speaks of his existence
prior to coming and living here as a man.
Phillipians
2:5-8
Have this attitude in
yourselves which was also in Messiah Yahshua, (6)
who, although He existed in the form of Elohim, did not regard equality
with Yahweh a thing to be grasped, (7) but emptied Himself, taking the
form of a slave, and being made in the likeness of men. (8) And being
found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient
to the point of death, even death on a stake.
John
17:5
Now, Father, glorify Me
in Your presence with that glory I had with You
before the world existed.
Yahshua
emptied himself of his power before coming and living on this
earth as the “Son of Man”. He prayed to
His Father that he might once again have that glory and power.
Ephesians
1:17-23
that the Elohim of our
Master Yahshua Messiah, the Father of glory, may
give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of
him, (18) having the eyes of your hearts
enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called
you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the
saints, (19) and what is the immeasurable greatness
of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his
great might (20) that he worked in Messiah when he
raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the
heavenly places, (21) far above all rule and
authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named,
not only in this age but also in the one to come.
(22) And he put all things under his feet and gave him as
head over all things to the church, (23) which is
his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
The
Father granted
Yahshua’s request and now Yahshua sits at
the Father’s right hand.
Hebrews
13:8
Yahshua Messiah is the
same yesterday and today and forever.
Yahshua
has been there
all along, watching when Satan was cast down,
creating the earth and mankind. Dealing with men in old
testament times, becoming a man who lived a perfect life and died for
our sins. Returning to the Father and receiving all
authority.
